The Constitutional Referendum and Popular Consultation held in Ecuador in february 2018 is considered by most academic authors as a break in the structure of Alianza PAIS (hereinafter AP) and a reconfiguration of forces within that movement, divided between those that respond to Lenín Moreno and those that respond to Rafael Correa. In this sense, we are interested in analyzing the discursive identity of the main political force of the last 15 years in Ecuador, namely Alianza PAIS and the modifications that identity undergoes since the assumption of Lenín Moreno. We take the discursive configuration of the Referendum starting from the first formal announcement of the same by Lenín Moreno until its completion, this representing the material consolidation of the dislocation of the AP identity. Our intention, then, will be to highlight the production conditions of the aforementioned Referendum as a process of producing meaning. For this, the concept of “dislocation” will be fundamental for the present work, since it evidences the contingency of social relations and identities, allowing the appearance of new discourses that try to fill the always incomplete field of politics.
