This collective work presents the proceedings of the second edition of the Student Conference of the Research Chair on New Challenges of Economic Globalisation (NEME Chair) (Université Laval), and organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Law at the Foreign Trade University (FTU) in Hanoi. Centered on the theme “Rethinking Economic Borders: Is Regionalism a Promising Path to Address Global Challenges?”, this conference brought together students and experts from diverse disciplinary and geographical backgrounds to explore the many facets of economic regionalism in a rapidly evolving world.
Through two sessions, held in May 2024 at Université Laval in Quebec and at FTU in Hanoi, participants engaged in discussions on pressing and relevant topics, including regional trade agreements, trade policies, and the socio-economic impacts of regionalism. These exchanges highlighted the transformative potential of regionalism in addressing major global challenges – such as climate change, inequality, and poverty – while fostering deeper economic cooperation between nations.
The contributions in this work reflect the NEME Chair’s commitment to collaborative research and international dialogue, establishing it as a key forum for exploring innovative solutions to contemporary economic and legal challenges. The partnership with FTU in Viet Nam, supported by the academic and financial contributions of partner faculties and the Quebec ministries (MEIE and MRIF), helped ground the discussions in a pragmatic and forward-looking perspective while providing young researchers with a dynamic platform for exchange and professional development.
